Cruising Oahu with Summer McKeen

We tend to love summer year round’ (don’t we all)…so bringing our own bit of SUMMER  with us to the North Shore to create some pre-holiday magic was a no brainer. 

Our bit of Summer in the middle of winter, happened to be YouTube star Summer Mckeen and our new pocket full of sunshine, in ‘tropical’ rain, shine and wintertime. 

We quickly learned, after getting to know Summer in Laguna Beach (her home away from home), that she’s the up for anything, girl next door, beautiful on the inside out, and was eager to get a surf lesson from our Billabong Women’s athletes Pacha Light and Laura Enever. 

It’s hard to think of better place to learn to surf than Waikiki, where the weather is warm, the water is clear, and the backdrop is breathtaking…And when the morning is filled with pink pancakes from the Royal Hawaiian, and the après-surf is an outrigger canoe ride with our friends at the Moniz Surf School, you know the week is gearing up to be something grand. 

In the afternoon, Summer and her good friend Grace said mahalo to Pacha and Laura and cruised the coast towards Haleiwa to meet with Hawaiian-native Alessa Quizon for some bike rides and tourist exploration. They made stops at all the best places like Sunrise Shack and watched the waves at the women’s house. 

Day two, we packed our boards on the North Shore, and drove back to WAIKIKI for a Surf Day. We shopped at our new store in Waikiki, made some new friends and had @BrooklynHawaii document the whole day in and out of the water. Baby waves beat the rainy weather on the North Shore where our day was filled with sunshine and rainbows.  

As the days went on during our island escape we made stops at the Billabong Pipe House enjoying the views and, in the afternoon, soared above Turtle Bay and Waimea Bay during our helicopter tour. We even did a little tailriding along the coast making for a relaxing morning, and a bit of lei-making with our dear friend @Ocean_dreamerr who setup a dreamy private lesson at our house.. We had @CoconutComradery capture all the fun and can’t wait for our next adventures with a side of Summer…
